The Sound Stranger

A stranger came this morning
dressed all in black and grey
Put every sound in a bag
and carried them away
The ticking of the clock
The swishing from the tap
The clicking of the tramp
The sizzling of the pan

The snoring of my dad
The door closing loudly
The clicking of the pens
And the sliding of the cartons
A stranger came this morning
He didn't leave his name
He left us only in silence
Life will never be noisy again.
